Uruguay is dominated by grasslands with few highly industrialized urban cities. The country is hilly with its highest point of elevation at 1686 feet above sea level. The topography has little effect on air circulation. Uruguay borders the Atlantic ocean and its largest city, Montevideo is on part of the 681 mile coast. When compared to less populous nearby cities, Montevideo does not show a significant raise in average daily temperatures suggesting a minimal urban heat island effect.
