Global Circulation Patterns

Uruguay is closely situated near a subtropical high system that moderates the climate. To the east, the coast is influenced by the warm water Brazil current which has an average temperature of 18-28 degrees C. The long coastline very near Montevideo keeps temperatures relatively constant and helps contribute to the average relative humidity.
The bold red line indicates the direction of the
Brasil Current. Note Uruguay's position
above the confluence with the colder
polar waters to the south.
